The gut responds to what you feed it.
Most gastroenterology is excellent at the procedural side — the scope, the biopsy, the diagnosis — and largely silent on the dietary side that patients ask about most. That gap is where our practice lives. The gut microbiome is shaped daily by what a person eats, and the evidence on fiber, fermented foods, and predominantly plant-based dietary patterns for digestive health continues to strengthen. We do not treat that as a wellness slogan. We treat it as a clinical tool, used alongside the diagnostics and therapeutics that conventional GI care does well.
That means a member with reflux, a member with IBS, and a member managing inflammatory bowel disease all receive the same dual approach: rigorous medical evaluation, and a dietary plan developed with intention rather than handed over as a photocopied sheet.
Two board-certified GI physicians
Dr. Angie Sadeghi, MD is dual board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, with a clinical and public-education focus on the relationship between dietary pattern and gut health, advanced endoscopy, and medical weight management. Dr. Amita Kalra, MD is triple board-certified across internal medicine, gastroenterology, and obesity medicine, with particular attention to the mind-gut connection, IBS, SIBO, GERD, liver disorders, and screening endoscopy.
Between them, the practice covers the full diagnostic and therapeutic range of gastroenterology — and both physicians share the same conviction that nutrition belongs inside GI care, not adjacent to it.
Comprehensive digestive care
From screening colonoscopy and upper endoscopy to the long-term management of chronic conditions, our gastroenterology service spans the conditions Orange County patients most often need a specialist for:
- Colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening and lower-GI symptom evaluation
- Upper endoscopy (EGD) for reflux, dysphagia, ulcers, and Barrett's esophagus surveillance
- Inflammatory bowel disease — Crohn's and ulcerative colitis — with medication management and anti-inflammatory dietary support
- Irritable bowel syndrome and SIBO, with FODMAP-aware, plant-forward intervention
- GERD, liver disorders, and general gut-health concerns
Time, access, and continuity
Chronic GI conditions reward continuity. Flares need a fast response. Diets need to be iterated, not prescribed once and forgotten. Our concierge model is structurally built for that kind of long-term partnership: real appointment length, direct messaging with the team, and an office line for when something flares between visits. For digestive conditions that conventional volume-based care struggles to serve well, that structure is the point.
